3 Way Flanged Ball Valve

The 3 Way Flanged Ball Valve is a full port quarter-turn valve designed for flow diversion, mixing, switching, and shut-off control in industrial piping systems. With three ports and an L-port or T-port ball design, it helps simplify complex flow arrangements and can reduce the need for multiple separate valves.

Built with flanged end connections, stainless steel body options, an adjustable gland, and an ISO 5211 mounting pad, this valve is suitable for chemical processing, water treatment, HVAC, oil and gas, utilities, and automated process control applications.

3 Way Flanged Ball Valve Product Overview

The 3 Way Flanged Ball Valve is a versatile industrial valve designed to control flow between three pipeline connections. It is commonly used for flow diversion, flow mixing, line switching, bypass control, and process isolation.

Unlike a standard 2-way ball valve, a 3 way ball valve has three ports. The internal ball can be designed with an L-shaped bore or T-shaped bore, allowing different flow paths depending on the required piping arrangement. This makes it suitable for systems where one inlet needs to be directed to two outlets, two inlets need to be mixed into one outlet, or flow needs to be switched between different process lines.

With flanged end connections, the valve provides secure installation in industrial piping systems and is widely used in chemical processing, water treatment, HVAC, oil and gas, industrial utilities, and general process control systems.

Product Description

The 3 way flanged ball valve uses a precision-machined ball inside the valve body to control flow direction. By rotating the handle or actuator 90 degrees, the valve changes the internal flow path, allowing the medium to be redirected, mixed, or shut off according to the system design.

The flanged ends provide a strong and serviceable connection to the pipeline. Compared with threaded or welded connections, flanged connections are easier to remove during inspection, maintenance, or replacement.

SIYelectric 3 way flanged ball valves are available in CF8 / SS304 and CF8M / SS316 materials. SS304 is suitable for general water, air, oil, and mild media, while SS316 is recommended for more corrosive or chemical applications after confirming medium compatibility.

The valve is designed according to ASME B16.34, with flange options including ASME B16.5 and DIN 2501. The ISO 5211 mounting pad supports installation of pneumatic or electric actuators for automated flow control.

Key Features

3 Way Flow Control

The three-port design allows the valve to manage multiple flow paths in one valve body. It can be used for diversion, mixing, bypass, line selection, or shut-off control.

L-Port or T-Port Ball Design

Depending on the process requirement, the internal ball can be configured for different flow patterns:

Ball TypeTypical Function
L-PortDiverting or switching flow between two outlets
T-PortMixing, distributing, or connecting multiple flow paths

Flanged End Connection

Flanged ends provide secure pipeline installation and make the valve easier to remove during maintenance compared with welded connections.

Full Port Structure

The full port design helps reduce pressure drop and supports better flow capacity through the valve.

Stainless Steel Material Options

Available in CF8 / SS304 and CF8M / SS316 for different operating media and corrosion requirements.

Adjustable Gland

The adjustable gland design allows packing compression to be adjusted when needed, helping maintain sealing performance during service.

ISO 5211 Mounting Pad

The built-in ISO 5211 mounting pad allows the valve to be equipped with pneumatic or electric actuators for remote or automatic control.

Applications

Chemical Processing

Used in chemical pipelines, dosing systems, mixing lines, solvent transfer systems, and process skids where flow needs to be switched, diverted, or combined.

For corrosive media, CF8M / SS316 is usually preferred, but actual compatibility should be confirmed according to the chemical concentration, temperature, and operating pressure.

Water Treatment

Applied in filtration systems, treatment units, backwash systems, bypass lines, chemical dosing systems, and water distribution pipelines.

The 3 way design can simplify water system layouts by replacing multiple valves used for flow switching or bypass control.

HVAC Systems

Used in chilled water, hot water, cooling water, heating loops, and air-conditioning systems where flow direction or mixing needs to be controlled.

A 3 way flanged ball valve can be used for bypass control, temperature regulation loops, and switching between different water circuits.

Oil and Gas Industry

Suitable for oil, gas, fuel, utility, flushing, and auxiliary process lines where reliable shut-off and flow switching are required.

For hazardous or high-pressure applications, pressure class, material, sealing structure, fire-safe requirement, and project standards should be confirmed before selection.

Industrial Utility Systems

Used in compressed air, water, oil, non-corrosive gas, cleaning lines, and plant utility systems where multiple flow paths need to be managed from one valve location.

Automated Process Control

With the ISO 5211 mounting pad, the valve can be fitted with pneumatic or electric actuators for remote control, PLC/DCS integration, or automated switching operations.

Selection Notes

When selecting a 3 way flanged ball valve, confirm the following details:

  1. Flow pattern
Choose L-port for diversion or line switching. Choose T-port for mixing, distribution, or more complex flow arrangements.
  2. Valve size
Confirm the required nominal size, such as DN15, DN25, DN50, DN80, or DN100.
  3. Flange standard
Confirm whether the pipeline requires ASME B16.5, DIN 2501, or another flange standard.
  4. Body material
    • SS304 / CF8: suitable for water, air, oil, and mild service.
    • SS316 / CF8M: better for chemical, coastal, or more corrosive environments.
  5. Manual or automated operation
If the valve needs remote or automatic operation, select the ISO 5211 mounting pad and match it with a suitable actuator.
  6. Operating pressure and temperature
Confirm that 150 LBS pressure rating and -20°C to 180°C temperature range match the actual working conditions.
