Stainless Steel Plate Flange

The Stainless Steel Plate Flange is a flat pipe flange used for bolted connection between pipelines, valves, equipment, and process instruments. It provides a simple and reliable flange interface for industrial piping systems where welding, gasket sealing, and easy disassembly are required.

Also known as a plate flange, PL flange, or flat welding flange, it is commonly used in water treatment, chemical processing, HVAC, oil and gas auxiliary systems, industrial utilities, and pressure instrumentation connections.

Stainless Steel Plate Flange Product Overview

The SIYelectric Stainless Steel Plate Flange is a common pipe connection component used to join pipes, valves, fittings, vessels, tanks, and industrial equipment through a bolted flange connection.

A plate flange is usually a flat circular flange with a central bore and bolt holes around the outside. During installation, the pipe is inserted into or aligned with the flange bore and welded, while the flange face is connected to another flange using bolts, nuts, and a gasket.

This type of flange is widely used in low to medium pressure piping systems, especially where a simple, economical, and removable connection is required.

Product Description

A stainless steel plate flange provides a practical way to connect pipe sections or equipment interfaces in industrial systems. Compared with threaded connections, a flange connection is stronger and more suitable for larger pipe sizes. Compared with welded-only connections, a flanged connection can be removed more easily during maintenance or replacement.

In many projects, this product may also be called a PL flange, flat welding flange, or stainless steel pipe flange. It is commonly selected for water, air, oil, steam-related auxiliary lines, chemical media, and general industrial fluid systems.

For pressure instrumentation applications, plate flanges can be used together with pressure transmitters, diaphragm seal pressure transmitters, differential pressure level transmitters, flushing rings, PTFE gaskets, spiral wound gaskets, threaded flanges, and flanged pipe fittings. They help create a compatible process connection when the instrument or accessory needs to be mounted on a flanged interface.

Key Features

Flat Plate Flange Structure

The plate flange has a simple flat circular body with bolt holes and a central bore, making it easy to install and suitable for many standard piping systems.

Stainless Steel Construction

Available in stainless steel materials such as SS304, SS316, and SS316L, providing corrosion resistance and long service life in industrial environments.

Bolted Flange Connection

The flange is connected with bolts, nuts, and a gasket, allowing secure sealing and easier disassembly compared with permanent welded-only connections.

Suitable for Pipe and Equipment Connections

Used for connecting pipelines, valves, pumps, tanks, vessels, process equipment, and instrument assemblies.

Multiple Flange Standards

Can be supplied according to common standards such as ASME, EN, DIN, JIS, GB, or customized project drawings.

Compatible with Different Gaskets

Can be used with PTFE gaskets, spiral wound gaskets, rubber gaskets, graphite gaskets, or other sealing materials depending on the medium and working conditions.

Selection Notes

When selecting a stainless steel plate flange, confirm the following details:

  1. Flange standard
Confirm whether the project requires ASME, EN, DIN, JIS, GB, or another standard.
  2. Nominal size
Confirm the pipe size or flange size, such as DN15, DN25, DN50, DN100, or customized dimensions.
  3. Pressure rating
Confirm the required pressure class, such as PN10, PN16, PN25, PN40, Class 150, or Class 300.
  4. Material selection
    • SS304: suitable for water, air, oil, and mild industrial media.
    • SS316 / SS316L: better for chemical, coastal, corrosive, or more demanding service.
  5. Sealing face type
Confirm whether the flange face should be RF raised face, FF flat face, or another custom sealing face.
  6. Gasket type
Select PTFE gasket, spiral wound gasket, rubber gasket, or graphite gasket according to pressure, temperature, and medium.
  7. Instrument application
If used with a pressure transmitter, diaphragm seal, or flushing ring, confirm the diaphragm flange size, bolt holes, gasket size, and installation thickness.
