In addition to the plug-in terminal block, this transmitter features in-field replaceable electronics module that thanks to the auto-configuration functionality dramatically improves plant productivity. Its intuitive plug-and-play display with easy setup procedure really helps users by saving time and lowering maintenance and inventory costs. Moreover, the innovative TTG (Through The Glass) technology allows users to configure the instruments in the field without removing the windowed front cover and consequently to save a lot of time.
The 266GRT is certified by TUV NORD for use in safety instrumented systems as per the requirements of IEC61508. The transmitters meet the requirements for SIL2 applications in a single transmitter configuration (1oo1) and for SIL3 applications in a redundant configuration (1oo2).
Typical Applications of ABB 266GRT Gauge Pressure Transmitter
The ABB 266GRT is used when a standard gauge pressure transmitter cannot be directly exposed to the process medium. The remote diaphragm seal separates the transmitter sensor from the medium and transfers pressure through a filled capillary system.
This design is especially useful for process conditions involving high temperature, corrosion, viscosity, crystallization, contamination or difficult installation positions.

Why Remote Diaphragm Seals Are Used
A remote diaphragm seal is used to protect the transmitter and improve measurement reliability under difficult process conditions. Instead of allowing the medium to enter the transmitter directly, the pressure is applied to a diaphragm and transferred through fill fluid to the measuring sensor.
For 266GRT applications, the selection of diaphragm material, fill fluid, capillary length and process connection is very important. These factors can affect response time, temperature influence, zero shift and long-term measurement stability.
Compared with a direct-mounted gauge pressure transmitter, the 266GRT is more suitable when the measuring point is hot, corrosive, hard to access or requires a separated transmitter installation.
